What is the point of a Digital Photo Frame?

My 2 cents on digital photo frames ...

I picked one up in Singapore in Jan 2008, the LCD died today - 2.005 months later. I had it plugged in via the AC charger and a USB card inserted. On ALL the time. So I am wandering about why the thing died, on the back , it says - "Recommended operation less than 8 hours" meaning it's a no no to have it on all the time. So what's the point of a picture frame, digital on top of this, when a regular photo frames stays "on" all the time, a digital altho runs through a gazillion pics, BUT is not meant to stay on. My point exactly what is the point of photo frame on a table when half the time is "turned" off and black.

So after looking around on the net, I find others share my opinion ...

1) You are not supposed to have it on all the time.
2) The LCD display has a lifetime of so many hours - once you reach that, it dies (like mine did)

You are supposed to
3) Use it not in the ON mode all the time but to enjoy your digital photo album with others with intermittent use

My conclusion?
The Digital Photo Frame is supposed to be a used as a digital album to be enjoyed (unless you want to stare at the same picture for a long time) and not a photo stand with a photo on a table. Just get the old fashioned photo frame n spend the 10 cents to get a print and stick it in, that way u can see the photo all the time and not a black screen when you want to.

And yeah, those things aren't cheap.
