Arizona State Park, Picacho Peak: Another check off my list

As my days in Phoenix, AZ draw to a close, one of the things to check off my list was to hike Picacho Peak. Always seeing it while driving on I-10 after many years, I finally made it a point to go, 26 days before my departure. The trail to the summit was rather hairy at times with extremely narrow vertical climbs closing in at 70+ degrees with cable wires to hold on to. The summit lies at about 3374' (1028 m) and with the shorter Hunter Trail it is about 2.1 miles each way. Link to full photo album.

The site has some Civil War history:
"The park is near the site of the Battle of Picacho Pass, the only American Civil War battle to take place in Arizona. A Union cavalry patrol from California fought a party of Confederate scouts in a short 1.5-hour skirmish, in which 3 men were killed.
